One of the things I love to do in life is travel. A bonus is when I can visit an area or beach town for ideas to create new art such as this recent release of my vintage Topsail Island print.
I made a road trip to Onslow Beach, NC and stayed in a small lodge on the USMC base Camp LeJuene. This location allowed me to scout the Crystal Coast from Beaufort down to the southern tip of Topsail Island for potential retirement communities. The wide open beaches of the area were a big plus even though it was January and far from the busy season or warm. I could only imagine that even in the height of the summer season the expanse of beaches would allow for room for all to enjoy. All the towns on the island seemed under developed from a commercial standpoint, but it was family vacation spot and rental heaven for sure. I found the scenery and people I crossed paths with just great.
Here is the southern most tip of Topsail Beach. I walked the entire length from the public crossover on the ocean side to the public parking lot on the inlet side to the ICW, where the parking lot is almost hidden. The expanse of the dunes is quite vast and the amount of shorebirds, ducks, gulls, and seashells were abundant & rewarding.
